Frenchman Butte’s history

Frenchman Butte is an organized hamlet in the Rural Municipality of Frenchman Butte No. 501, on the north shore of the North Saskatchewan River along Highway 797, about 43 kilometres northeast of Lloydminster.

The community takes its name from Frenchman Butte, a locally prominent landform. The butte stood near the site of the 1885 Battle of Frenchman's Butte, fought during the North-West Rebellion.
